The Turtle Boy, Worcester, MA

turtle boyI was going to leave this one alone but the more I see the statue, the more confused I am by it.  Worcester, Massachusetts has some wonderful things.  By wonderful I mean old, decrepit, and strange.  The Turtle Boy probably takes the cake though… as well as, the pie, the cookie, and the half eaten cheeseburger.  Honestly, is there any way that boy is not fucking the turtle?  I just don’t see it.  Simply look at the their faces.  The boy has a look of pure determination like he is attempting to accomplish an extremely difficult task.  The turtle, on the other hand, has the look of sheer terror like its back door is being entered by a strange nudest with a reptile fetish.  Believe it or not, I do love the statue because it gives this city an identity.  Although this identity portrays us as a bunch of creepy animal fuckers, it’s an identity nontheless.
